Acrylic Painting with Dyann Miller Location: Cape Coral Art Center This advanced class is designed for students who have experience with acrylic painting. Refining and exploring techniques, artistic styles and using a variety of tools, media and paint will be the focus of this class. Color mixing, composition, and design relating specifically to watercolor paintings will be taught. Students may work on their own paintings, with practical advice offered, or work on a painting related to the class demo. No class on Thursday, 11/28/2024 or Friday, 11/29/2024. They will have needed to take at least one six-week beginner’s class. They have had no prior experience or very little experience with watercolors. Students will be introduced to a variety of techniques used in trans- parent watercolor painting such as mixing, blending, and applying colors, color values and characteristics. Students will learn how to add texture to paintings using various tools. Students will create compositions using these techniques in landscapes, seascapes, flo- ral, abstracts and more. There will be a weekly painting project that will be started in class and completed at home. There will be a class critique the following week. No class on Thursday 11/28/24. They will learn how to use oils, color values, blending, shading, how to make flesh look life like, capturing the likeness of the subject, and how to give portraits a 3-dimensional look. An under- painting will be completed and then students will move on to the overpainting. Students usually complete one painting in 12 weeks. No class on Monday, 10/14/2024 or 11/11/2024. Advanced Project-Based Pottery with Karla Galvin Location: Cape Coral Art Center In this Advanced Project Based Pottery series, learn advanced proj- ects and learn new techniques in a lesson-based setting . Students will use hand building techniques including pinch pots, coil building and slab construction to create unique functional and sculptural pieces. Experimentation with color, texture and pattern is highly encour- aged. A variety of surface decoration techniques are introduced in addition to glazing. Experienced ceramic students wishing to pursue independent practice to enhance their skills or add to their body of work are welcome. Raku is not available in this course.
