Managed by the Parks and Recreation Department and located within Lake Kennedy Community Park, the Freida B. Smith Special Populations Center offers a varietyof programs for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. The mission of Special Populations is to promote independence through exposure, education, experience and encouragement in a safe, caring environment.

is a volunteer, non-profit, 501c3 organization which provides support for Special Populations programs and participants through fundraising events, grants and donations. They meet the second Tuesday of the month (excluding July, August & December) at 6:00 pm at the Freida B. Smith Center and are always looking for new members. Harry Chapin Care & Share Senior Feeding Campaign 4th Monday of each month • Lake Kennedy Center The Care and Share Senior Feeding Program supplements the diets of more than 2,300 low-income seniors in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food. Eligible seniors aged 60 and over receive kits containing canned fruits and vegetables, canned protein, grains, cereal, and other food each month. We provide fresh produce, frozen meats, dairy, bread, and deli items with these kits when possible. How to sign up: Please call 239-574-0575. Lee County Pop-Up Library Location: Lake Kennedy Center Enjoy books, audiobooks, and magazines. No library card is needed. Volunteer! Are you looking to get involved and meet new people? Become a volunteer at Lake Kennedy Center or another division in Parks & Recreation. Application and fingerprints are required. Veteran Services The City of Cape Coral is partnering with Lee County Veteran Services team to help veterans, surviving spouses and dependents better understand the resources available to them, including: • Disability • Non-service-connected pensions with or without Aid Attendance benefits for both veterans and surviving spouse • Appeals • Burial benefits • Education benefits • Health benefits GIFT CARDS Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Gift Cards are available for purchase

Cape Coral Mini-Bus Based out of Lake Kennedy Center • (239) 574-0573 Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm Service Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm The Cape Coral Mini-Bus program has been providing
high-quality door to door transport service for transportation disadvantaged Cape Coral residents since 1987. All drivers
carry commercial licenses and are certified in CPR. The program is especially designed for seniors and disabled persons who are unable to drive or utilize public transportation, and do not live with relatives who are able drive. The Mini-Bus fleet includes vehicles that are equipped to transport wheelchair clients. Transportation services must be scheduled a minimum of 72 hours in advance and are geared for medical appointments and weekly shopping excursions within Cape Coral. Please note: Rides are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis and space is limited, so there is not always availability 72 hours in advance. Please schedule rides well in advance to get your preferred day/time. This program is partially funded by the CDBG. Friendship Centers Dining Program Lake Kennedy Center • Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 1:00pm Nutritious, healthy meals keep one’s mind and body at peak performance. Lake Kennedy Center can help you maintain good health by offering meals through the Friendship Dining program. This program is open to anyone over 60 years old looking for a healthy and nutritious hot meal in a clean, safe, and friendly environment. A donation of $3 per meal is suggested to help cover the cost of the meals; however, anyone is welcome to a hearty meal regardless of their ability to pay. All contributions help to provide meals for older adults in the communities we serve.
